BARNES & NOBLE HOLIDAY BOOK DRIVE

Writers spotlight, book drive coming

Posted

Barnes & Noble Mesilla Valley Mall, 700 S. Telshor Blvd., will host a local writers spotlight in October and its annual Holiday Book Drive in November and December.

The writers spotlight will be held noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, and will include local writers Paul Brenner, Tanya Dawson, Christopher McKeon, Linda Powers Ray, and Conrad Tycksen for a discussion of their books and book signing.

The holiday book drive will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1, through Monday, Dec. 5, and will give customers the opportunity to donate books to nonprofits, Barnes & Noble said.

This year, the Las Cruces Barnes & Noble is partnering with the Children’s Reading Alliance, whose mission is to engage families and the community to promote children’s literacy in Doña Ana County (CRA). Through programs such as “Read with a Child Every Day” and First Teacher/Primer Maestro, CRA works to put books in the hands of children and families.

Last year, Barnes & Noble customers and booksellers provided more than 1.4 million books to more 600 charitable organizations that provide services to people in need across the country, the book seller said.
