Zombies invade downtown Las Cruces

Posted

Downtown Las Cruces Partnership (DLCP) and the City of Las Cruces will host “the terrifyingly fun and highly anticipated” 10th annual Zombie Walk, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Plaza de Las Cruces, 101 S. Main St., the city said in a news release.

There is no charge to attend.

“This spine-chilling event promises to be a hair-raising night, filled with eerie atmosphere and ghoulish entertainment for participants and onlookers alike,” the city said. “Zombie Walk has become one of Las Cruces' most beloved Halloween traditions. Gather friends, family, and fellow monsters to join in this celebration of all things spooky. Get ready to shuffle, stagger, and groan your way through downtown streets like the living dead, as this event brings to life the undead in a unique and lighthearted way.”

Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in their most terrifying zombie costumes, complete with gruesome makeup and haunting accessories.

“Whether you're a professional makeup artist or a beginner with an eye for the macabre, the Zombie Walk creates the perfect environment to show off your creative skills and imagination,” the city said.

“We are thrilled to bring back the Zombie Walk and our collaboration with the city means it will be bigger and better than ever before,” said DLCP Executive Director Jennifer Garcia Kozlowski. “This event allows us to showcase our vibrant downtown and engage the community in a fun and unique way. Participants will have the opportunity to explore, immerse themselves in a thrilling atmosphere, and create unforgettable memories.”

This year's Zombie Walk promises a variety of spine-tingling activities for all ages,” the city said.

The Zombie Walk Parade, down Main Street, will begin at 7 p.m. and will culminate in the Best Costume Contest. This year’s trophy is sponsored by Zia Comics.

Venture into the “Zombie Zone,” where you will find live entertainment by Radio Journey, at 8 p.m., the Thriller Dance performance by Michele’s Dance Academy and the midway.
