The Black Box Theatre, located at 430 N. Main Street in Las Cruces, invites you to tumble headfirst into a whirlwind of romance, wit, and Regency‑era ridiculousness with The Complete Works of Jane Austen, Abridged opening Friday, March 13 with a champagne reception after the performance.
Created by Jessica Bedford, Kathryn MacMillan, Charlotte Northeast, and Meghan Winch, this fast‑paced comedy squeezes Austen’s beloved novels into one delightfully chaotic evening, where no bonnet is safe and every heroine gets her moment in the spotlight.
Under the expert direction of Melissa “Muñoz” Chavez, three fearless performers, Autumn Gieb, Karen Buerdsell, and Knut Eric Brekke, bring Austen’s entire world to life. Expect quick changes, quicker quips, a whole lot of hats, and a lovingly irreverent journey through the canon that will charm devoted fans and newbies alike.
This is Austen as you’ve never seen her: bold, brisk, and brilliantly abridged.
Performances are Fridays, March 13, 20, and 27 at 8 p.m., Saturdays, March 14, 21, and 28 at 8 p.m., Sunday Matinees on March 23 and 28 at 2:30 p.m., and Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m.
