A Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Deputy died after a car crash on I-10 Tuesday afternoon.

Patrol Deputy Antonio Aleman, 33, was on duty when his car collided with a semi-truck at 5 p.m. near the Avenida De Mesilla exit on I-10, according to a statement from Doña Ana County.

Aleman was transported to MountainView Regional Medical Center where life-saving measures were performed but he did not survive.

In the statement, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office said that Aleman was a “valuable asset to the Sheriff’s Office” and that he “will be dearly missed.”

The procession for Aleman will take place Wednesday afternoon.

Aleman will be transported from the Office of Medical Investigators in Albuquerque to Funeraria Del Angel funeral home in El Paso using I-25 and Highway 404.

The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office said that members of the public should expect potential delays and thanks the public for their patience.

Aleman worked with Doña Ana County since 2021 and left behind his wife and two children.
