A few random thoughts for the week

Posted

I enjoyed a great conversation with New Mexico State athletic director Joe Fields last week, leading to a pair of stories we’ll run starting this week and concluding next week. We talked about his background and what motivates him and then discussed the current state of college athletics.

I enjoyed hearing his take as someone on the front lines of the messy landscape of the NCAA right now.

On Friday, my wife and I were privileged to attend Blank Conversations Theatre Company’s production of “Alice By Heart” at the Rio Grande Theatre. Admittedly, I am not as knowledgeable about the book that sparked the play, “Alice in Wonderland,” and that left me a little lost on some of the plot, but I was very impressed with the acting and the production work. It’s amazing how many of you in this community have so much skill in that area.

Home delivery

One final random thought for the week. Sampling in the newspaper business is a circulation strategy in which we deliver the newspaper to the homes in a group of neighborhoods for a period of time and then rotate to a different group of neighborhoods as we work through the city before returning to the first group of neighborhoods.

The Bulletin has been delivered for free to essentially the same home for a number of years now, but we are considering how to work sampling into our plan. That means that, if you are in one of the neighborhoods that has been receiving a free copy of the paper at your home, there may come a time when that will change for a while as we sample other neighborhoods.

We’ll let you know what we decide once we start implementing anything new, but I wanted to give you a little notice.

The Bulletin will continue to be available for free on newsstands throughout the city regardless of what changes we make in home delivery. If you have been receiving the Bulletin at home and want to make sure it keeps coming, please contact us. We are working on a plan to offer uninterrupted home delivery to those who want it.
