LOCAL PROTEST

Activism in Las Cruces

Posted

Russell Bell, 70, moved to Las Cruces from Waterloo, Iowa, which he said is the most racist place he’s ever lived. He was at the southeast corner of North Main Street and Picacho Avenue alone on Thursday, May 28. A passerby took his picture and posted his story to Facebook, prompting more than two dozen people to join him on Friday morning, May 29, at 8 a.m. They were collectively protesting the murder of Minneapolis resident George Floyd, whose death was caused by a white police officer kneeling on his neck while Floyd begged for air.
