The NM State women’s tennis team completed a perfect weekend in Missouri, earning a pair of victories with a 4-2 win over St. Louis on Friday before closing the trip with a 5-2 conference win over Missouri State on Sunday.

The Aggies leaned on strong singles performances throughout the weekend, highlighted by standout efforts from Montana Parkinson-Lubold, Anna Klimova and Mariella Gelbke, who each played key roles in securing the 2-0 mark.

NMSU 4, St. Louis 2

The Aggies opened the weekend against St. Louis in a weather-impacted match that saw doubles play canceled due to rain, shifting the entire contest to singles competition.

NM State responded well to the adjustment, picking up four singles victories to secure the team win. Montana Parkinson-Lubold led the charge at No. 2 singles with a dominant straight-set victory, 6-2, 6-0.

Emma Petton delivered one of the most pivotal performances of the day at No. 3 singles, battling through three sets for a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 victory to give the Aggies momentum. Anna Klimova followed with a strong 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4, while Mariella Gelbke added another point with a convincing 6-4, 6-3 performance at No. 5.

Despite dropping matches at the top and bottom of the lineup, the Aggies’ depth proved decisive in securing the 4-2 victory.

NMSU 5, Missouri State 2

Closing out the weekend with a Conference USA matchup, NM State bounced back from dropping the doubles point to Missouri State by winning five singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory.

After falling behind early, the Aggies surged in singles behind a series of dominant performances. Anna Pinaieva quickly evened the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while Montana Parkinson-Lubold continued her strong weekend with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3.

Whitney Moon delivered a gritty comeback at the top spot, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles to swing momentum in NMSU’s favor. Anna Klimova added another key point with a three-set comeback of her own, winning 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.

Mariella Gelbke sealed the match for the Aggies at No. 6 singles with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory, clinching the conference win and capping an unbeaten weekend for NM State.
With the Aggies wrapping up their final regular season matches on the road, NMSU now turns its full attention to the Conference USA Tournament, set to begin April 15 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
