Awards rolled in for NM State following the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Alesha Lane earned the CUSA Field Performer of the Meet award, one of six superlatives announced by the conference.
Lane, a senior from Casper, Wyoming, earned the distinction after posting a career day in Murfreesboro, recording the highest individual point total among field athletes (17).
Beginning on Thursday, she recorded a personal best mark in the hammer throw (51.57 meters) to take eighth place and score points in the event at a championship meet for the first time in her collegiate career.
On Friday, Lane returned for the shot put – a high-stakes battle that came down to the last throw. Already posting a new personal best in the prelims (15.91 meters), she moved into first place with a best throw of 16.05 meters – the second farthest mark in NM State history. This became the first individual championship for Lane and the farthest throw at the championship meet since 2024.
Closing out her weekend at the CUSA Championships, the fourth-year Aggie tallied her second podium finish of the weekend, taking third in the discus with a best mark of 52.35 meters.
Lane wrapped her collegiate career with six podium finishes between indoor and outdoor CUSA Championships (four times in the shot put, twice in the discus).

Following an impressive showing to finish fourth at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Lane was among a quartet of Aggies – all achieving at least one podium finish in Murfreesboro – that suited up once more for the Crimson & White at the 2026 NCAA West First Round, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Opening the weekend of action in Fayetteville, Lane and Kamryn Cadle competed in the shot put. After taking first and third, respectively, in the event at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the duo tallied marks of 14.04 meters and 13.70 meters.
In the 100-meter dash, Marlee Cavitt represented the Crimson & White in her first of two events on the day. In a competitive heat including five athletes who advanced to nationals, the 2026 CUSA 100-meter champion Cavitt crossed the line with a time of 11.61.
Less than two hours later, Cavitt returned to the track at John McDonnell Field for the 200, where the Sacramento, California native posted a finishing time of 23.96.
After taking part in the shot put on Thursday, Lane competed in her second event of the weekend, the discus toss. Taking third at the 2026 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Lane recorded a best mark of 52.00 meters (170 feet-7 inches) to take 19th overall – the highest finish among Crimson & White members on the weekend.
The CUSA champion and school record holder in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Nia Allison, took part in the event in Arkansas, posting a time of 10:30.80 to close the weekend.
