Artist and Las Cruces native Coy Lowther has joined Agave Artist Gallery, 2250 Calle de San Albino in Mesilla.
Lowther’s paintings and drawings “are often a mix of realism juxtaposed with boldly graphic lines,” the gallery said. “Her themes follow people and nature. Then she hops into the realm of Dia De Los Muertos to capture movement and the fullness of life.”
Lowther has created murals for COAS Books, Boneyard Cantina and Las Cruces Museum of Nature and Science, all located on Main Street downtown. She was among artists participating in DLCP’s Ventanas Vivas downtown business windows decorating program and was one of six Las Cruces artists and 27 artists statewide chosen to create illustrations for the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs’ 2022 New Mexico-themed activity book.
Earlier this year, Lowther was chosen as the City of Las Cruces’ first Las Cruces Arts and Cultural District Icon for 2023.
Agave Gallery is open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Monday. Call 575-339-9870 and email agaveartists@gmail.com.
