Ancient Skies, Modern Eyes

Prepare to be captivated by the mysteries of the cosmos and the wisdom of ancient sky watchers. This is an enlightening, all-day public event that explores discoveries by archaeologists about how astronomy guided ancient civilizations. Taking place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the New Horizons Dome Theater of the NM Museum of Space History in Alamogordo, this immersive experience is co-hosted by the Jornada Research Institute. Throughout the day, a dynamic lineup of renowned speakers will delve into the astronomical importance of petroglyphs, solar calendars, eclipses, and ceremonial sites.


Explore Fort Selden Historic Site

Come out and explore 1400 years of history beginning with the Mogollon, foragers turned farmers, who lived on this land as early as 400 A.D., to the Spanish in the late 1500s to the American military in the mid-1800s. Explore Fort Selden Historic Site with ranger-guided tours on Wednesday mornings July 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 from 9 - 10 a.m.. 1280 Fort Selden Rd, Radium Springs.


Maya Textile Sale

Weaving for Justice will be holding a Maya textile sale in July. The Weaving for Justice is a nonprofit organization selling beautiful handwoven and embroidered textiles by Maya weavers from 11 collectives in Chiapas, Mexico. We also sell donated textiles, books, and tourist items to raise funds for scholarships for Maya youth. Items for sale include scarves, shawls, coin purses, belts, skirts, bookmarks, cloth earrings, huipils (women’s blouses), felted animals, tortilla warmers, and gifts of many kinds. The sale will be take place on July 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Atrium of First Christian Church, 1809 El Paseo Road in Las Cruces. For information visit weaving-for-justice.org

Electric Light Parade and 5k Run

Join us for a glowing evening of fun, fitness, and community spirit! Celebrate with Las Cruces at this year’s Electric 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run followed by the vibrant Electric Light Parade. The 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center, 1600 E. Hadley Ave.

They Call Her Death
One Night Only! Get ready for a night of blood, vengeance, and vintage celluloid. They Call Her Death, the savage 16mm throwback to 1970s exploitation cinema, screens on Sunday, July 6, 7:30 p.m. at The Fountain Theatre in Mesilla. Director Austin Snell will be in attendance. A brutal, blood-soaked homage to grindhouse classics, the film was shot entirely on 16mm and follows a vengeful woman who earns her name the hard way. “Hell hath no fury like the woman they call death!”
