BLM proposes project on public land

Posted

The federal agency, the Bureau of Land Management, is seeking public comment starting Friday, March 28, until April 28, on a proposed Black Mountain transmission line project near Las Cruces.

If approved, El Paso Electric, in partnership with EDF Renewables Distributed Solutions, Inc., would be authorized to construct, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission a two single-circuit 345-kilovolt overhead transmission lines across less than half a mile of public lands.

The gen-tie line would connect the 100-megawatt photovoltaic Black Mountain Solar project and 50-megawatt battery energy storage system located on private lands to the existing power transmission system.

Additional information is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the ‘Participate Now’ option. Comments may also be delivered to: BLM Las Cruces District Office, c/o Paula Montez, Attn: Black Mountain Gen-tie Project, 1800 Marquess Street Las Cruces, NM 88005.

For more information, please contact BLM Project Manager Paula Montez at pmontez@blm.gov or 575-525-4387.
