Las Cruces High School senior Kaselle Davis, a recent Gatorade Player of the Year, signed up to run for Indiana University last week.
The local track and field phenom was selected as the 2023-24 Gatorade New Mexico Girls Track and Field Player of the Year based on her academic standing (including a 3.66 GPA in her junior year), volunteer work at an Alamogordo church and her performance on the field.
Davis broke two state records and won multiple events at the 5A state track and field championships last spring including a record-setting 24.27 run in the 200-meter preliminary races and completing the 400-meter dash in 54.13. Davis brought home four gold medals and a relay bronze.
Davis signed an agreement on Nov. 13 to enter IU’s women’s track program beginning in August, after her graduation from Las Cruces High.
