Cancer Warriors of Las Cruces 5K run/walk will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, in the south parking lot at the Pan American Center on the New Mexico State University campus.
The 5K is one of nearly a dozen events that are part of Warriors Week, Oct. 12-19, as the Cancer Warriors organization started by Marci Dickerson and six other members of the Cancer Warriors Board of Directors raises money for and awareness about women’s cancers.
Registration to participate in the run-and-walk continues through Oct. 19. The cost is $45 for the run and $30 for the walk. Participants receive event T-shirts and bibs, along with medals. Awards will be presented to the top three men and the top three women overall as well as the top finishers in age groups ranging from 9 and under, to 80 and up.
There is also a fun run/walk option, Cancer Warriors founder Marci Dickerson said, although only participants in the walk/run will be eligible for T-shirts, prizes or having their time recorded.
The event will include vendors and family-friendly activities, she said.
Registration for the race, is available at RaceRoster.com by entering “cancer warriors 5K http://raceroster.com and enter “Cancer Warriors 5k/ Fun Run” in the “Find an Event” search box.
