Central Loan Company’s longtime office at 104 S. Water St. sits empty after its owners consolidated operations at the 2607 N. Main St. location. After 65 years in the Water Street building, Central Loan co-owner and former Las Cruces Mayor Ruben Smith said the decision to leave the location was emotional, but it made sense for the business. All seven employees who worked in the Water Street office have moved to the North Main office, he said. Central Loan is the oldest, locally owned finance company in Las Cruces.
