Chalk Walk seeks artists

Posted

The city’s annual Chalk Walk exhibition of sidewalk art is scheduled for March 8, and the city issued a call for artists this week to apply to participate.

Exhibiting artists will receive an honorarium and will also be eligible for a community choice competition prize presented by the Foundation of Las Cruces Museums, the city stated in a news release.

Applicants must complete a form and submit a conceptual sketch, with a Feb. 21 deadline. The artists will be selected by the City Art Board’s selection committee. Further information and the application are available online at LasCruces.gov/arts-and-leisure/public-art/. Additional information is available via Ceci Vasoncellos, the city’s public art coordination, at 575-541-2780 or cvasconcellos@lascruces.gov.

The Chalk Walk event will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, in the courtyard of the Las Cruces Museum of Art.
