Chamber music ensemble Camerata del Sol announced a pair of concerts it will perform in Las Cruces and El Paso next weekend.

‘Baroque on the Border’ promises pieces from the Baroque period by Vivaldi, Albinoni and Corelli. The concert will also feature a violin sonata by Elisabeth de la Guerre, a woman musician and composer who performed for King Louis XIV at the age of five and later joined his court.

Wenstrom, per the news release, is a Baroque specialist who has performed with the Trinity Wall Street Baroque Orchestra, Sebastian Chamber Players, New York Baroque Incorporated, the Baroque Orchestra of Maine, Quodlibet Ensemble and the Washington National Cathedral Baroque Orchestra. She is also a founding member of Wayward Sisters, which won the 2011 Early Music America/Naxos competition.

The concerts feature El Paso Symphony Orchestra principal cellist James Carney, also a member of Camerata del Sol, performing Vivaldi’s Cello Concerto in D Minor. Additional artists icnlude Héctor Torres (on theorbo), Nicole DiPaolo (harpsichord), violinists Daniel Vega-Albela, Amalia Zeitlin and Roberto Jurado, violist Elisabeth Greene and bassist Ian Narlock.

The concerts are free to the public, with suggested donations of $15. Because of space limitations, attendees are encouraged to register in advance online at CamerataDelSol.org/upcoming-events. Additional information is available via director@cameratadelsol.org.
