Las Cruces will celebrate the lighting of its official Christmas tree the night of Saturday, Dec. 7.
The event will gather the public at downtown’s Plaza de Las Cruces, 100 N. Main Street between Griggs and Las Cruces avenues, from 6-8 p.m. Mayor Eric Enriquez will mark highlights and memorable moments from 2024 and then light the Christmas tree at 7 p.m., per a news release from the city.
The event is free and open to public, with plans for live music, prizes, food trucks and refreshments and family-friendly activities.
The jollity needn’t stop in the plaza, however. At 8 p.m., the Rio Grande Theatre, 211 N. Main Street near the plaza, will screen “The Muppet Christmas Carol” for $5 per person. The doors will open once the tree is lit.
