City Senior Programs and Youth Services join school district to deliver Valentine’s Day wishes

Who wouldn’t want a little love on Valentine's Day?

The City of Las Cruces’ Quality of Life Department partnered with the city Parks and Recreation Department and four Las Cruces Public Schools classes to make sure some Las Cruces Senior Programs patrons were remembered on Valentine’s Day, the city said in a news release.

Together, they made or collected about 1,300 Valentine’s Day cards to give to seniors on Valentine’s Day, which was Monday, Feb. 14. The cards were given to seniors participating in the city’s Senior Programs Meals on Wheels service or those involved in activities at the city’s five senior centers: Henry Benavidez, Robert Munson, Frank O’Brien Papen, Eastside and Sage Café.

Students participating in the Youth Services program and in four LCPs classes have been making Valentine’s Day cards for seniors, the city said. Senior Programs supplemented the handmade cards with purchased cards to ensure all participating seniors received well wishes on Valentine’s Day.
