Coats for Kids has Kona Ice drive-thru, drive-in movie fundraisers

Warm coats for the winter. Coats for Kids of Las Cruces received a $14,250 check Oct. 21 for on-air fundraisers conducted by 101 Gold Radio (Bravo Mic Communications), with support from additional Coats for Kids sponsors, Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico, Knights of Columbus 9527, D2 Designs, Comet Cleaners and US Bank. Left to right are Narciso Holguin (Knights of Columbus), Robert Palacios (Bravo Mic Communications), Dan Schneider (Comet Cleaners), Karen Bailey (U.S. Bank), Donna Dollar (101 Gold Radio), Dawn Hommer (Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico) and Alycia Jameson (D2 Designs). The money was raised during August-October fundraisers organized by Jameson and Palacios through live donation drives aired on 101 Gold radio. Pic Quik contributed as a matching-fund sponsor of $2,500. Coats for Kids also thanked Las Cruces Public Schools, Allen Theatres, Marci Dickerson and The Game, Kona Ice, Pitre Kia and other donors for support. Coats for Kids of Las Cruces has fundraisings today (Thursday, Oct. 22), Monday, Oct. 26, and Thursday, Nov. 5.

The events are

Drive-in Movie, 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, Allen Theatres Telshor 12, 2811 N. Telshor Blvd. The movie is “Hocus Pocus,” starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. $20 per car. Coats for Kids was started in 1994 and has provided more than 55,000 coats to needy children in the past quarter-century. The program hopes to provide 3,500 coats to children this year who are selected by Las Cruces, Gadsden and Hatch school districts.
Fundraising continues all year for Coats for Kids, which also is accepting donations of new and gently used coats for children ages birth to fifth grade; drop off coats at 101 Gold, 101 Perkins Drive; Comet Cleaners, 2001 E. Lohman Ave., 2497 N. Main St. and 555 Utah Ave.; D2 Designs, 101 Perkins Drive Ste. B; and U.S. Bank, 277 E. Amador Ave. and 3790 E. Lohman Ave.
