Coralie Bailey Carrier passed away peacefully in the presence of family on 09 SEPT 2026. A resident of Las Cruces since 1972, Coralie was born 28 DEC 1940 in Alamogordo to W. G. Bailey Jr. and Christine Wells; she was the sister of Reginald Bailey.
She is fondly remembered as a remarkable woman who lived her life boldly. She was an instructor of Becoming an Outdoor Woman and of New Mexico Hunter’s Education, in addition to various NRA and other wilderness-centric programs. From skydiving to African safaris, Coralie thrived in the outdoors. She was a pioneering women's proponent of firearms ownership, sport shooting, hunting, self-defense, and concealed carry. She was President of the NM Shooting Sports Association as well as President of the Picacho Gun Club, spending countless hours on the Butterfield Shooting Range. Coralie founded the Southwestern Academy of Firearms Education (S.A.F.E.) which she owned/operated up until her passing.
These passions however didn’t hold a candle to her passion for friends and family. Coralie maintained a great reputation for hosting wonderful gatherings of all kinds. Anyone in her home was made to feel welcomed and appreciated. She especially enjoyed playing games at the table (which she often won) immersed in lively conversation. She was an avid, voracious reader. In her lifetime she read entire libraries worth of books, gaining a vast breadth of knowledge and wisdom from them.
Coralie was married to Frederick Roberts with whom she had two sons, Steven and Ronald, and after divorce married Clifford Edwin Carrier Jr. who had two children from a previous marriage, Clifford (Kip) and Elizabeth (Lisa). She was a widow at her passing, leaving behind loving and grateful children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Coralie’s memorial service will be announced privately at a later date.
