Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps identify the person who shot and killed a dog last Friday.

Police learned that a Las Cruces resident of the 4400 block of Los Arboles Court returned home at about 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, and found his 9-year-old mini-schnauzer dead in the backyard. Upon further investigation, it appeared the dog had been shot with either a small caliber gun or airgun.

Anyone with information on who may have shot the dog is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip by text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.

The Crime Stoppers number and text messaging services are operational 24 hours a day and you do not have to give your name to collect a reward.
