Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Deputy Antonio Aleman laid to rest

Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Deputy Antonio Aleman will be laid to rest at a cemetery in Sunland Park on Thursday.

Aleman was killed in a car crash while in the line of duty on Interstate 10 near the Avenida de Mesilla exit in a collision with a semi-truck on July 8. He was transported to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Law enforcement created a procession to honor Aleman as they escorted his body from the Office of Medical Examiners in Albuquerque to a funeral home in El Paso on July 9.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5750 Doniphan Dr. in El Paso at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 17. Mourners are welcome to attend but the family has requested a respect for their privacy and family, law enforcement and other dignitaries will be seated first.

Law enforcement will hold another procession to transport Aleman from a funeral home to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

After the church service, Aleman will be escorted by Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Deputies and other local law enforcement to the cemetery, Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Lane, in Sunland Park.

Aleman served the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office for four years. He is survived by his wife and two children.
