Dumpster Day seeks your trash

Posted

The city’s Keep Las Cruces Beautiful program will host a Neighborhood Dumpster Day event from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 16.

KLCB, part of the Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department, will provide open-top trash receptacles at three locations inviting the community to dump yard waste, trash and other permitted items, free of charge, the city announced in a news release. Staff will be available for support and to offer guidance on what is allowed in the dumpsters, but participants will need to unload their own cargo.

Prohibited items include:

  • Medical waste
  • Hot ashes or coals
  • Tires or any other vehicle parts, including batteries
  • Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes
  • Large yard waste items like tree stumps or trunks
  • Concrete, bricks or rocks
  • Toxic, combustible or hazardous materials
  • Toilets or sinks
  • Refrigerators, freezers, or anything with refrigerant
  • Carcasses

The containers will be located at the East Mesa Recreation Center, 5589 Porter Drive; Young Park, 850 S. Walnut Street; and at 674 N. Motel Boulevard, near the intersection of Westway Avenue.

More information is available from Keep Las Cruces Beautiful at 575-528-4506 or KLCB@lascruces.gov.
