Las Cruces ranks in top 10

According to new study on economic growth

Las Cruces was ranked as 9th among small cities for overall economic growth according to a new study put out by the CoworkingCafe.

The study looked at 11 different factors including new business applications, GDP growth, median earnings, employment rate, unemployment rate, population growth, trade and exports, crime rate, educational attainment, housing, and infrastructure.

The study showed that Las Cruces has had a whopping 107% jump in export activity — 1st among small cities — and the local economy expanded by 31% from 2019 to 2023.

As far as jobs go, employment rose by 1% and new business applications went up by 64%. Median wages for workers also rose 40% with the population of the city rising by 11.7%.

In addition to Las Cruces ranking 9th among small cities, Albuquerque ranked 9th among large cities.

The top performer in the large city category was Austin, TX and the top performing small city in the United States is Goodyear, AZ.
