Doña Ana County Fire Rescue's Deputy Chief Yvonne Feijoo, MPA, completed the process that awards the professional designations of "Chief Fire Officer", "Fire Marshal" and "Chief Training Officer."
This accomplishment makes Feijoo the first firefighter in New Mexico to hold all three credentials, from the Commission on Professional Credentialing®. She is one of only 11 who hold the Chief Fire Officer designation, four Fire Marshall and two Chief Training Officers in the state.
The designation program is a voluntary program designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate their excellence in seven measured components including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement and technical competence. In addition, participants are required to identify a future professional development plan.
The designations are awarded about an evaluation of candidates seeking the credential using a comprehensive peer review model. The Commission awards specific designations only after an individual successfully meets the organization's stringent criteria and is valid for three years.
Maintaining the designation requires recipients to show continued growth in the areas of professional development, and contributions, active association membership and community involvement, while adhering to a strict code of professional conduct.
