The photo shows Lara, left, as he was sworn in as district judge Jan. 3 by District Judge Doug Driggers, with Lara’s wife, Rosenda, at left. Lara, a Democrat, was unopposed in the Nov. 8 general election in the race for Third Judicial District Division 2. “I know you’re going to make a fine judge,” Driggers told Lara, who has been a staff attorney with the district court in Las Cruces for the past five years. A native of El Paso, Lara is a 2007 graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law.
