Posted

A new documentary, "You Got Gold: A Celebration of John Prine," will screen at the Fountain Theatre January 4-6. The 90-minute film captures a star-studded tribute to the legendary songwriter, filmed in October 2022 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.

That event brought together acclaimed artists, friends, and family to share behind-the-scenes stories and perform classic songs, honoring Prine's enduring legacy.

Prine passed away in April 2020 at the age of 73. He is widely celebrated as one of history's greatest songwriters, captivated millions of fans and earned the admiration of icons such as Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Tyler Childers, Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakam, Jason Isbell, and Bob Weir, amongst many others.

These singer/songwriters  and others are featured in the film performing on the Ryman stage for this special celebration of his life and music. Archival footage of Prine’s concerts and interviews are interspersed throughout the film.

"You Got Gold: A Celebration of John Prine," will be shown at the Fountain Theatre, 2469 Calle de Guadalupe, one-half block off the plaza in Mesilla. Screenings are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, January 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. More information and tickets are on the MVFS website (www.mesillavalleyfilm.org) and at the Fountain Theatre.
