The Las Cruces High boys basketball team will begin the next phase of its "unfinished business" tour.
The Bulldawgs, 28-0 overall, were given the No. 1 seed in the state 5A playoffs under seedings and brackets announced by the New Mexico Activities Association Sunday night.
Las Cruces is seeking its third straight trip to the state 5A championship game this year and this time, the Bulldawgs are hoping to win their final game of the season after losing to Cleveland High of Rio Rancho last year.
Getting the top seed was somewhat of a suprise as the Bulldawgs had been ranked No. 2 in the state by MaxPreps for most the season behind Volcano Vista of Albuquerque, which ended up with the No. 2 seed. During the NMAA's selection show, the sports governing body said Las Cruces High got the edge because it had more wins over other district champs and a stronger showing in the coaches' poll.
