El Paso police identified a Las Cruces man as the victim of a crash on Interstate 10 on April 13.
Michael Prendergast, 39, was killed when a semi truck hit his pickup truck. The crash occurred near the Vinton exit at about 8 p.m.
El Paso police said in a news release that Prendergast was headed toward El Paso. At some point, he pulled over. It's unclear why, police said. He then got onto the eastbound lanes before colliding with the semi truck.
“The truck driver could not stop in time,” police said.
Prendergast died at the scene, the news release said. Police also identified the semi truck driver as an Arizona man. No changes have been filed as of this article’s publication.
The crash closed both sides of the freeway Saturday night for about 10 hours. All lanes reopened early Sunday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
