Las Cruces police reported Tuesday that a suspected murder-suicide was under investigation.
Police say an elderly couple was found in their home, deceased, at about 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29. They were identified as Dennis Wyatts, 77, who was described in a news release as the suspect; and Renate Wyatts, 83, described as a victim.
Their home is located in the 4000 block of Gila Trail, a residential street located east of Elks Drive in north Las Cruces.
Police said "each succumbed to injuries sustained from a gunshot wound," without releasing further details.
