Las Cruces Home Builders Association (LCHBA) hosted its fourth annual Build My Future hands-on skilled trades event Friday, Oct. 13, in the parking lot at Mesilla Valley Mall for students from Las Cruces Public Schools and from Gadsden, Hatch and Silver City high schools and Las Montañas Charter High School. Among the many electrical, plumbing, welding, roofing and other building experiences students had, LCHBA partnered with Veloz Homes so students could build dog houses that will be donated to Mesilla Valley Community of Hope. “The LCHBA Education Foundation supports skilled trades in our local high schools and helps fill the skilled trade job shortage right here in Las Cruces,” said LCHBA Executive Officer Nicole Perez.
