Man critically injured in Las Cruces house fire

A 42-year-old man was transported to a burn facility in Lubbock, Texas Thursday after an early morning fire at a residence on Cortez Drive, the Las Cruces Fire Department reported.

Firefighters responded shortly after midnight on April 11 to a residential structure fire on the 7600 block of Cortez Drive, where flames and smoke were visible at the rear of the home. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, according to the LCFD.

Three occupants were rescued from the fire, including the 42-year-old man described as critically injured in the blaze plus a man and a women who received treatment on the scene and declined transportation to a hospital. Further information about the critically injured man’s condition was not made available and none of those rescued were identified.

The cause of the fire and estimates of the damage were not determined as of publication of this article.
