MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day to be observed in communities throughout New Mexico

Posted

Communities throughout New Mexico will be observing Memorial Day with memorial services and events scheduled on Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday, May 28 through Monday, May 30.)

On May 30—Memorial Day--the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) will host 11am ceremonies at its Fort Stanton and Gallup State Veterans Cemeteries. A scheduled ceremony at its Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Angel Fire has been cancelled due to the nearby Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak wildfire in nearby San Miguel County.

Below is a list of Memorial Day events provided to DVS. DVS Cabinet Secretary Sonya Smith, who is scheduled to attend the Memorial Day ceremony in Albuquerque, urges

New Mexicans to attend a ceremony to commemorate the meaning of Memorial Day: A day to honor the men and women who have lost their lives while in active military service of our country.
