OBITUARY

Michelle Renee Sanders

Posted

Michelle Renee Sanders was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1970 in Clinton, OK and adopted by Robert and Mary Ellen Sanders. As a young child, she thought the parades were a celebration of her! She grew up in Lawton, OK and graduated from both Lawton High School and Cameron University, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. She was blessed with two sons, Anthony and Bryan, who were the lights of her life.

She lived in many places, including Amarillo, TX and Reading, PA, where she was one of the first female firefighters for Exeter Township, PA. She then moved to Las Cruces to spend time with and provide care for her parents in their remaining years. After her mother passed, Michelle and her dad joined East Mesa Baptist Church and enjoyed their fellowship. After her father's death, Michelle returned to Lawton, OK in 2022.

In addition to her boys, Michelle loved the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners (BOOMER!), and her cats. She was an excellent swimmer and talented concert pianist.

Michelle passed from this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Timothy Bryan Hillen. She is survived by her son Anthony Hillen; brother, Michael Sanders; sister-in-law, Shelly Sanders; brother-in-love Jon (Lisa) Bridges; as well as nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends who loved and will miss her dearly.

Memorial services will be held in Lawton, OK, and a private family celebration of life will be held in Las Cruces.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Michelle can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of El Paso
