Las Cruces municipal elections for city council District 3, city council district 5, city council district 6, and municipal judge were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 4.
In unofficial results of those elections, Michael James Harris captured the District 3 seat with 55% of the vote, Becky Ann Corran was re-elected in District 5 with 63%, and John P Munoz was the winner in District 6.
Because there were four candidates on the ballot in District 6, that race was decided using ranked-choice voting. Ramona Bataneant was eliminated as the fourth-place choice in the first round of tabulations. Tommy Black finished just one percentage point behind Richard Reynaud in the second round of counting, leaving Munoz and Reynaud in the final calculation. Munoz had 62.5% of the tally when compared head-to-head with Reynaud, which will send Munoz to the council to fill an open seat.
James Prentice DeRossitt IV was re-elected as municipal judge, running unopposed.
Election results will be certified by the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners within 10 days of the election, and then by the state of New Mexico by the end of November.
Newly elected municipal officials will be administered the oath of office on Monday, Dec. 15. The newly elected municipal officials begin four-year terms of office on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
