A Chaparral, N.M. man accused of killing his wife by a roadside in Mesilla is set for a murder trial next week.
Oscar Renee Sandoval, 58, is charged with first-degree murder after police said he shot and killed 39-year-old Sheireen Al Jibury on Apr. 1, 2024. Sandoval was arrested a few days later in Ciudad Juárez. He’s been held in jail ever since.
Police said in charging documents that Al Jibury approached a witness on University Avenue near Stanford Street, saying, “I’ve been shot,” before observing a man chase Al Jibury and fire four shots at her. The witness later identified Sandoval in a photo lineup.
That eyewitness, along with a slew of police officers and investigators, are scheduled to testify for the prosecutors.
The trial is scheduled to last for five days, from Jan. 13 to Jan. 17, with 3rd Judicial District Judge Douglas Driggers presiding.
