Welcome to our new web site!
To give our readers a chance to experience all that our new website has to offer, we have made all content freely avaiable, through October 1, 2018.
During this time, print and digital subscribers will not need to log in to view our stories or e-editions.
My wife once gave me some simple advice about cooking: follow the recipe first. Then, once you understand it, start making it your own.
That’s the approach we’re taking with the Bulletin.
When arriving at a new publication, you keep most things the same, then gradually adjust the ingredients as you experiment to find the right mix.
With that in mind, I want to share with you, our readers, some of the recipe variations we’ve been gradually introducing into the Bulletin’s content mix. I strongly believe a community newspaper belongs to the community, and with that belief, I want to tell your stories as well as we can.
In addition to enhancing our sports coverage, we’re introducing what I’m calling Super Sections—similar to the departments newspapers used to carry when I was learning the business: sports, business, food, entertainment and more.
These Super Sections won’t all run every week, but they will appear on a regular schedule to help us broaden and diversify our coverage. As you see them in the Bulletin, I hope you’ll reach out with story ideas. We won’t be able to cover everything, but we will give each idea thoughtful consideration.
Some of the heavy lifting will be done by local subject-matter experts who will contribute to these sections.
You’ve already seen a few of them, including Inside the Kitchen, featuring Chef Armando from the Las Cruces Convention Center. We’ve also introduced Destination Las Cruces, with tourism content from Visit Las Cruces; Living Well, focused on health and wellness with local experts; and Money Matters.
I’m especially looking forward to continuing Echoes of the Past as we explore both the fun and the serious sides of local history. We’ll also follow education through Classroom Connections, home and garden through Living Spaces, and highlight some of our Hometown Heroes.
In this week’s edition, we debut our Community Impact Super Section, in partnership with the Community Foundation and other local service organizations.
What excites me most is the storytelling. I look forward to meeting—and writing about—the people who are changing the world right here in Las Cruces.
I hope you enjoy these changes. I welcome your feedback, and especially your story ideas—and even your submissions.
Our goal is simple: to make this truly your community newspaper. I hope you’ll join us on the journey.
