A new franchise, called Toro Taxes, is opening in Las Cruces starting Saturday.
The grand opening will be held at the new location, 1424 E. Lohman Ave., on the second floor at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Marco Ramirez, the new owner, said this will be the first Toro Taxes to open up in New Mexico. He said he will be starting the business with 10 employees but expects to grow to 30 employees and open up a second location in Las Cruces next year.
Ramirez said he used to operate a different accounting firm but he was presented with the opportunity to start a Toro Tax franchise.
In addition to offering tax services, Toro Tax will also offer accounting services and bookkeeping and will be open year-round, Ramirez said.
Ramirez said Toro Taxes will also be hiring and training individuals to offer tax services. He said applicants do not need a college degree. If hired, Toro Taxes will provide training and help with licensing and certification, Ramirez said.
“We want to bring support and services to workers, taxpayers and small business owners. We want to help them make more money and pay less taxes,” Ramirez said.
He said Toro Taxes will host workshops on how to start a new business.
“People don’t know where to start or what to do. We can offer help and guide them,” Ramirez said.
Ramirez said filing taxes should not be an exercise filled with dread.
“Taxes shouldn’t be frightening. When you have the right information, it’s a totally different game when you have the strategies. That’s our specialty. We do a lot of tax advising,” he said.
