O Christmas tree

Posted

The city of Las Cruces’ giant Christmas tree once more takes its place at Plaza de Las Cruces downtown. And no, no one took a bite out of the gingerbread man: The figures are headless to facilitate photographs with evergreen boughs and decorations as a background.

The tree lighting ceremony took place the night of Saturday, Dec. 7, that featured music, food trucks, activities and giveaways and, of course, hot chocolate under the night sky. Steps away from the plaza, the Rio Grande Theatre held a special showing of “The Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992).
