Ron Perlman, star of film and television with a career spanning more than four decades, will be an honored guest at this year’s Las Cruces International Festival on April 4, where he will receive the LCIFF “Outstanding Achievement in Entertainment” award, the festival announced.

Perlman will accept the award in person and host a screening of one of his best-known movies, “Hellboy,” with a question-and-answer session. Perlman will also give an address looking back on his career at New Mexico State University, according to a news release. The screening will take place at the Allen Theatres Cineport.

Past honorees have included Giancarlo Esposito, William H. Macy, Danny Trejo, Brendan Fraser, George Lopez, Cybill Shepherd, Richard Dreyfuss and Edward James Olmos.

“Hellboy” is one of Perlman’s many collaborations with director Guillermo del Toro. Perlman’s screen career began with a role in “Quest for Fire” in 1981, and from 1987 to 1990 he played opposite Linda Hamilton on the television drama “Beauty and the Beast.” The Golden Globe winning performer has also distinguished himself as a voice actor. His television credits includes roles on “Sons of Anarchy” and “Startup,” and more. On the larger screen, he has appeared in a range of genres and styles, from franchise films like “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” to dark comedies such as “Don’t Look Up” and animated musicals like Del Toro’s adaptation of “Pinocchio.”

“His outstanding and diverse body of work is simply impressive,” LCIFF founder and director Ross Marks stated in a news release. “It is a thrill the Las Cruces International Film Festival can honor him in person. He is the consummate actor whose values and work ethic reflect the film festival. We are beyond ecstatic to have him as the face of the 2024 film festival.”

The LCIFF will run from April 3 to 7 at the Allen Theatres Cineport cinema. Tickets and further information are available at LasCrucesFilmFest.com.
