Siakam named WAC men’s player of the week again

For the third consecutive week, New Mexico State University’s Pascal Siakam has been selected as the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week as he has continued his dominating play since the start of the season.

Siakam, the media’s choice as the WAC’s Preseason Player of the Year, collected his fifth career WAC Player of the Week honor.

The sophomore forward from Douala, Cameroon, averaged 30.5 points on 64.9 percent shooting, with 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game as the Aggies went 1-1 in a pair of overtime games. Siakam collected a career-high 35 points to go with 11 rebounds in the Aggies’ 81-71 win over Robert Morris. He followed it up with his fifth double-double of the year and the 12th of his career with 26 points, 12 rebounds and a career- best six blocked shots in NM State’s 66-64 overtime loss at Air Force.

Siakam leads the nation in total field goals made with (63), ranks second in scoring (26.8) and 11th in rebounding (11.8). In addition to scoring and rebounding, he leads the WAC in blocked shots (2.17) and minutes played (36.17) per game.
