Have you heard the news? Dr. Lucky’s Blue Revue, New Mexico's premiere grown-up variety show, is returning by popular demand to the Rio Grande Theatre! That’s right, Blue Revue has pulled out all the stops for this special Holiday Spectacular edition, featuring the best and brightest drag, burlesque, and alt variety performers from around the country. Two unique shows with two distinct casts will deck the halls of the Rio Grande Theatre this weekend, to give us the present we are really hoping for this holiday: laughter, love, and live entertainment.

“Blue Revue is a treasure to our local art scene as it brings talented artists from around the region – and the country – to our beautiful historic Rio Grande Theatre,” says Dr. Lynn Sally, professor of Gender & Sexuality Studies at New Mexico State University and author of Neo-Burlesque, published by Rutgers University Press.

This popular adult extravaganza offers an array of variety performances – from burlesque to drag to circus arts to dance – to entertain and uplift audiences. Scheduled to appear are Aayla (Bisbee), Adam Bomb (Sante Fe), Anahi Norell Andrews (El Paso), A'riah Venus Andrews (El Paso), Bessie Boutté (Oklahoma City), Cece TV (Tucson), Desert Darlings (Albuquerque), Dr. Lucky (Las Cruces), Fish the Clown (El Paso), Georgina of FireFoxFlow (El Paso), Helena Handbasket (Chicago), Jordan Mathews (Las Cruces), Juni Beurre Amie (Albuquerque), Lorena (Albuquerque), Malina Rae (El Paso), and Q (Oklahoma City).

“What all these variety artists have in common is over-the-top theatricality, extravagant costumes and makeup, and a clear point of view,” Dr. Sally says. “The performers tell powerful and engaging stories on stage in innovative ways.”

The fun-filled Blue Revue features a full stage show, cash bar, and vendors. Complete your holiday shopping with unique gifts from Smutville Vintage and Two Stoned Betties, voted “The Best” of Albuquerque for their handmade jewelry designed to uplift and empower.

Friday’s Blue Revue show is for those on Santa’s “nice list,” while Saturday’s Blue Revue is for those on the “naughty list.” Better yet, make new holiday traditions by coming to both with your adult family and friends. May contain adult language; 18 and over unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Dr. Lucky’s Blue Revue: Holiday Edition transforms the Rio Grande Theatre, 211 N. Main St., Las Cruces, into a burlesque hall, at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, December 20 and 21. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 - $35 (Reserved seating available only at www.riograndetheatre.org), or $10 balcony tickets available in person only at the door.
