Ron Galla field will open for normal operations on Monday, March 31 but the additional fields in Hadley Sports Complex as well as Apodaca Softball Fields will remain closed while the city stabilizes the light poles.
The city closed Hadley Sports Complex and Apodaca Softball Field earlier in March to assess safety concerns around the stability of the poles.
After an assessment, the city determined that Ron Galla field does not need pole removal and replacement. But the city has removed light poles at Maag Park and it, too, will open for normal operations on March 31.
The city is working on pole disposal and clean-up of Paz and Harty fields, which are a part of the Hadley Sports Complex. Those fields will open for daytime play only in the coming weeks.
Apodaca Softball Fields do not have a schedule for reopening as pole removal began this week.
Fields open for daytime play will have barrels placed over the location of removed poles. Those attending games or practices will be asked to avoid the area where the barrels are placed for safety.
Apodaca Park baseball fields, Burn Lake soccer fields, High Noon fields 1-5, Provencio Van Damme fields and East Mesa Public Recreation Complex fields were not affected and have remained open.
