The 23rd annual Doña Ana Community College Golf Tournament is coming up but the school says that it is still in need of golfers.
The tournament helps raise funds for scholarships for DACC students and helps to fund the FirstLight Comfort Casita food bank on campus.
DACC development officer Aggie Saltman said that this money helps many students out in their education.
“Scholarships are given out to two students from each of our five departments so the golf tournament itself provides $500 per scholarship. That $500 is matched by another scholarship we have so that results in $1,000 scholarships for the students,” Saltman said.
The food pantry located at the Espina DACC campus is open to all students and staff and is also funded through this fundraiser.
“I think that DACC has a large population of nontraditional students so many of the students who use the food pantry do have families they are providing for as well,” Saltman said.
The golf tournament will be a four-man scramble and the cost per team is $500 or $125 for individual players.
Lunch will follow the event and the awards ceremony for the scholarships and a raffle will take place after.
The golf tournament will take place on October 10 and the deadline to register is October 3.
