The annual All-City High School Art Show is now on display at the Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St., featuring 66 student artists from high schools across Las Cruces.

More than 100 students applied for this year’s juried exhibition, with 66 works selected for display. The exhibit features juniors and seniors from Mayfield, Las Cruces, Organ Mountain, Centennial High Schools, Alma d’Arte, and Rio Grande Preparatory Schools, along with participating homeschooled students.

Artwork in the show spans multiple mediums, including paintings, drawings, ceramics, mixed media, and digital art.

The exhibition highlights the progress students have made through their high school careers while giving young artists the opportunity to display their work in front of the local community.

“These are the emerging artists of Las Cruces,” said Analisa Torres, exhibits curator for the City of Las Cruces Museums. “They’re able to showcase their artwork in a museum setting, which I think a lot of people don’t really see as an opportunity.”

Awards were presented during the opening reception, including Best of Show and first and second place honors in 2-D, 3-D, and digital categories.

Celesté Mendez of Alma d'Arte Charter High School received Best of Show for the piece “Ambience.”

First-place winners included Aleyna Casey of Centennial High School in the 2-D category for “Mania,” Ryan Knopp of Centennial High School in the 3-D category for “Bowerbird,” and Victoria Wilson of Centennial High School in the digital category for “Raining Encounter.”

Additional awards were presented by the Potters Guild of Las Cruces, including first place awarded to Michael Silva-Robles of Las Cruces High School for “Get Around Duress.”

The exhibit opened on March 6 and will remain on display through April 18. Admission is free, and the gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
