The Small Business Administration announced a day-long summit designed to support veterans, service members and military spouses with resources to launch, grow or rebuild a small business, according to a news release.
The summit hopes to help veteran businesses access capital, connect to available financial tools and prepare for disasters. It also promises to help businesses understand government contracting and obtain certification as veteran-owned or service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.
“With more than 14,000 veteran-owned businesses in New Mexico—around 9 percent of companies in the state—this event will promote entrepreneurship among veterans and military community members,” the news release said.
Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce, National Veterans Small Business Coalition, American Legion and the New Mexico State University Arrowhead Center partnered with the SBA for the summit.
“This full-day summit is a no-cost event designed to increase small business ownership among the 164,000 veterans statewide, as well as active-duty and transitioning service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and military spouses,” the news release said.
The summit is Dec. 3, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum.
