Las Cruces firefighters were also called to a commercial structure fire earlier on Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at Discount Tire, 420 S. Telshor Blvd. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke within the building.
Firefighters located the source of the fire in a second-floor storage area and extinguished it before it spread. There were no reported injuries in that fire and the business was able to remain open for the rest of the day. That fire also is under investigation.
A third fire that took place within the 13-hour period in Las Cruces happened at about 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday when a residential structure fire began in the 400 block of East Court Ave. Firefighters were able to distinguish the flames.
