Posted

Individual volunteers, groups and civic organizations are invited to register for this year’s City of Las Cruces “Toss No Mas” cleanup event, which will be held 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 8, the city said in a news release.

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful, the city Parks and Recreation Department and New Mexico Clean and Beautiful will host “Toss No Mas,” which began in the 1990s.

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful will have a centralized location, Young Park, 1905 Nevada Ave., for information, identified locations and supplies the morning of the event, the city said. Volunteers can pick up supplies 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3-Friday, Oct. 7, in the south parking lot of Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave.

Hundreds of volunteers participate each year to collect litter at parks, schools, streets and business properties during the cleanup campaign. In past years, more than 1,000 volunteers from local groups and organizations have collected more than 16 tons of litter during Toss No Mass.

As part of the event, solid waste containers will be available for residents 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 8 for trash disposal.

  • The corner of Thurmond Road and Sonoma Ranch Boulevard.
  • Apodaca Park, 801 E. Madrid Ave.
  • Young Park, 1905 E. Nevada Ave.
