Volunteers needed for April 9 Great American Cleanup

Posted

Individual volunteers, groups and civic organizations are invited to register for this year’s Great American Cleanup event, 8 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 9.

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB), the City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department, New Mexico Clean and Beautiful and Keep Doña Ana County Beautiful programs are jointly sponsoring the event, which “is a great opportunity to show pride in Las Cruces and surrounding areas,” the city said in a news release.

KLCB will have a centralized location for the 2022 cleanup, Young Park, 1905 E. Nevada Ave., for information, supplies and areas identified to be cleaned up.

Hundreds of volunteers participate in the cleanup each year to collect litter at parks, schools, streets and business properties during the cleanup, the city said.

In past years, more than 1,000 volunteers from 60 local groups and organizations collected more than 16 tons of litter during the annual event.

Volunteers can pick up supplies at Frank O’Brien Papen Community Center, 304 W. Bell Ave., 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, April 4-8. Register online at www.las-cruces.org/FormCenter/Parks-Rec-Forms-14/Great-American-Clean-Up-Registration-103.
