Not much has changed for the Las Cruces High football team now that district play has begun. The Bulldawgs (6-0, 2-0) continue to dominate as they seek to position themselves for a state title run.
Organ Mountain (2-4, 0-2) was the latest team to feel the bite as Las Cruces shutout the Knights 55-0 Sept. 26 at Field of Dreams.
Senior Gunnar Guardiola was perfect throwing the ball, completing 13-of-13 passes for 259 yards and five touchdowns. Senior Francisco Winnikoff was on the receiving end of four of those aerials, picking up 125 yards and finding the end zone three times. Senior Jacob Misquez also hauled in four balls for 91 yards and a score.
Sophomore running back Aldo Gallegos (five carries, 50 yards) shared the running load with senior Daniel Amaro (seven carries, 51 yards) in this lopsided contest.
Devin Alba and Denton Walker led the defense as each recorded double-digit tackles.
Las Cruces is at Clovis (1-4, 0-1) Friday, while Organ Mountain hosts Carlsbad at 1 p.m. Saturday at Field of Dreams.
In other action last week, Mayfield (2-4, 2-1) scored four touchdowns in the second quarter and coasted to a 55-35 win over Deming. The Trojans are at 2-4 Lovington Friday night. Centennial (4-1,1-0), which had a bye last week, faces Alamogordo (4-2, 1-1) this week.
